2008 Hunting Forecast for Allegheny National Forest
- PA Whitetail Deer Hunting- Mon.-Sat. Dec. 1-13, 2008
The outlook for PA Deer Hunting in our area should be extremely good. The Doe harvest was adversely affected by heavy rainfall in 2007. This year there are higher numbers of Does than in past years. Since the Game Commission enacted the "3 points on one side” requirement, more and more trophy size whitetail Bucks are being observed in our area. Outdoor enthusiasts from many sports have been reporting their sightings of numerous Does and trophy- size Bucks. 2008 should be a good year.
- PA Black Bear Hunting-Mon.-Wed. Nov. 24-26, 2008
Black Bear hunting in our area should provide outstanding potential for success in 2008. Sightings and encounters with the PA Black Bear have been reported all summer within a short distance of the Lodge. Within a 4 mile radius of the Lodge, one local man reported seeing a mother with 4 cubs, a mother with 3 cubs, a mother and 1 cub, and 11 other individual bears. One is estimated to be over 600 pounds. This is your year to tag a trophy PA Bruin. Make your reservation now!
